A place to become yourself

Drawing on First Nations and Inuit cultures, languages and knowledge, the RCAAQ’s Early Childhood Centre (CPE) provides a warm and welcoming environment where every child can thrive, growing and learning at their own pace.

Our pedagogical approach promotes children’s holistic development while fostering their sense of identity and belonging and their openness to the world. In an inclusive and supportive environment, children are encouraged to explore, create, discover and form meaningful connections with others.

At the heart of a new living environment

The RCAAQ’s CPE is opening its first facility, with 81 daycare spots, on the Université Laval campus.

Complementing the living environment for Indigenous students developed by the RCAAQ’s real estate company, the CPE offers childcare primarily to resident families, but also welcomes children of all backgrounds.

Designed as a true gathering place, the CPE offers children and families a lively, welcoming and safe environment that fosters social interaction and helps build relationships.

Growing and exploring

Every day is an opportunity to learn by playing, discovering and experimenting.

The whole CPE is designed to foster children’s natural curiosity, independence and joy of learning. Through activities tailored to their age and interests, children develop their self-confidence, creativity, and social, language, emotional and motor skills.

What sets us apart

Living cultures and identities

This is an environment where First Nations and Inuit cultures, languages, knowledge and values enrich children’s daily lives and foster their sense of pride and belonging.

Learning through play and discovery

Educational experiences at the CPE are designed to foster curiosity, independence, creativity and joy of learning, while respecting each child’s individual pace.

Nature, the land and transmission

Our approach is inspired by Indigenous knowledge and nature-based education. It encourages experiential learning through exploration, active play, respect for all living things and connection to the land.

Relations that help us grow

In this warm and caring environment, families, educators, Elders and Knowledge Keepers work together to help children thrive.

Children are the future, so we encourage their cultural pride, curiosity, respect and sense of belonging
