Living Cultures, Meaningful Services

The RCAAQ and its affiliated Native Friendship Centres provide community services in the living environments of our Société immobilière, to enable residents to reach their full potential, get support along their life trajectories and forge new ties in the city.

These residential projects are designed to be welcoming spaces that emphasize a dynamic and prized community life. Led by the RCAAQ, local partners and residents, they enable First Nations and Inuit to forge ties and benefit from community spirit in an urban setting.

An approach focused on wellness

The staff attending to our community living environments draw on both professional expertise and cultural knowledge. A strength, this complementarity is reflected in all our actions to support residents in maintaining their health, wellness and life balance.

What makes these living environments vibrant and ensures their longevity is the collective governance that guides them. Everyone is called upon to contribute to decision-making and community life. This involvement is central to how we work, and it’s this participation that builds a living environment where everyone feels recognized, useful and valued.

When our steps fall in sync and we choose the destination together, our wellness becomes a shared journey.

Concerted action for a committed community

The RCAAQ supports a renters’ committee made up of residents who want to be actively involved in planning meaningful activities and projects for the living environment. The committee plays a key role in decision-making and mobilizing the community.

It strengthens residents’

  • empowerment,
  • sense of community belonging, and
  • knowledge and skills, via meaningful projects.

The committee is an essential lever for bringing participatory governance to life and making Indigenous voices heard in daily routines.
