In the Haute-Mauricie region, La Tuque is a focal point for many Indigenous people, due to its highly mobile population and the availability of public services. Surrounded by the traditional lands of the Atikamekw, the town borders the communities of Wemotaci, Obedjiwan and Manawan, and regularly welcomes families and individuals who are relocating temporarily, visiting, or settling there permanently.
